It’s downright magical how versatile essential oils are, and how they cover a multitude of things. In Part 1 of this blog series, I touched on mood enhancing with essentials oils. This one is dedicated to a more utilitarian purpose for diffusing: diffuse your way into better health!
Before I inadvertently became a product of diffusing to improve the ‘tude & mood (more next article on that), my main purpose for diffusing was all about how we could add extra umph to combat whatever health concern we may have going down in crazy town during cold & flu season. Aroma Ace + On Guard – my cootie crushing combo!
So, this time we are going to focus on improving health & diffusing – but, keep in the back of your mind, the essential oils don’t care about your intent, they’re going to do what they’re going do. So most likely, you’ll get a 2fer with diffusing – health AND mood benefits. YAY! A win for the whole person! But I digress, let’s get to it!
If you are using a diffuse like the Lotus Diffuser or Spa Vapor, using 4-6 drops of On Guard or Citrus Bliss is a great way to prevent illness.These can stop those cooties dead in their tracks! When those lovely little molecules venture out & touch surfaces, they are unleashing cootie killers as well (that’s a 3fer).
I’m going to focus on the basics here, these aren’t the only ones that will work & hey, if you have had more success with something not mentioned, PLEASE share it in the response section below! One of the BEST parts of EOs is learning from others. That’s how I have been blessed with so much of my knowledge – the sharing kindness of others.

Seasonal allergy season is upon us, here are some blends to diffuse to help with those:
(2 each should do ya in a diffuser)
* If this blend chills you out too much, step up the Pep! Add a couple additional drops of peppermint to assist in reviving your mind & focus (helps with the breathing too). LLP is also a blend that can help someone fall asleep & stay asleep by applying it to the bottom of their feet. (See? 2fers all over the place)
Congested & Coughing –
add several drops of Breathe to the LLP.
For added decongestant & expectorant :
2 drops of Myrrh
Sleepy time with congestion or cough – add some Serenity or Lavender (about 3 drops). GREAT for sick kiddos needing to rest.
4 drops Lavender
2 drops Eucalyptus
1 drop Roman Chamomile
2 drops Ginger
2 drops Lavender

It’s amazing that diffusing can influence both mood & overall health! I find my Modern Essentials book a GREAT resource to think of different things to diffuse. Sometimes, we just let our noses lead us by smelling different oils associated with what challenges we’re trying to overcome. This is a GREAT way to get the whole family involved so they can learn & decide which EOs are their “go to” favorites.
